| A highly respected cosmetic
dentist, Dr. Donald Sammarco has been
helping his patients look and feel terrific
about themselves for more than 30 years.
His extensive experience covers all
areas of cosmetic dentistry, including
the latest advances in esthetic dental
techniques.
Dr. Sammarco completed his undergraduate
degree in psychology from Fairfield
University in Connecticut. He then
went on to Fairleigh Dickinson University
School of Dentistry where he completed
his dental degree, followed by an
internship at New York Medical College
at Metropolitan Hospital. Dr. Sammarco
also completed an additional two years
of comprehensive dentistry study at
the University of Florida School of
Dentistry.
A commitment to continuing dental
education is a cornerstone of Dr.
Sammarco’s dentistry practice.
He regularly updates his skills through
courses and seminars in order to bring
the best in new services to his patients,
and he holds membership in numerous
prestigious professional organizations,
including the Academy of General Dentistry,
the American Dental Association, the
Florida Dental Association, and the
American Academy of Comprehensive
Dentistry, to name just a handful.
In addition, Dr. Sammarco has an
impressive list of accomplishments
to his name. Among these, he has authored
chapters on AIDS in dentistry, published
in “A Guide to Rehabilitation”
by Matthew Benter and Company (1993),
and he lectures extensively on the
subject of cosmetic dentistry. He
is also on the Florida Board of Dental
Examiners, the state agency responsible
for regulating and licensing dentists
within the state, and has been selected
by his dental peers as a fellow in
the Academy of General Dentistry,
an honor reserved for just 10 percent
of the academy’s total membership.
What does F.A.G.D. stand for in Dr.
Sammarco’s title?
F.A.G.D. stands for fellow in the
Academy of General Dentistry. The
academy is a professional organization
of dentists committed to professional
development and continuing education.
To qualify for basic membership in
this organization, dentists must complete
a minimum of 75 hours of continuing
education every three years to stay
current in dental advances and provide
the highest possible patient dental
care. On top of this, a dentist honored
with the title of fellow must complete
a structured and rigorous set of requirements
involving all dental disciplines.
As a “fellow” in the
Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.),
Dr. Sammarco has been recognized by
his dental peers as a leader and an
example to the profession on the importance
of continuing education to quality
patient care. He has accepted the
charge to keep abreast of advances
in dentistry for the benefit of patients
and the betterment of dentistry. Dr.
Sammarco is amongst a select 10 percent
